ACRYLIC PAINTINGS WITH DRIED FLOWERS
In making the paintings in The Pond Series I was inspired by the patterns created by petals and
leaves falling on the surface of the water, and by the currents and movements of the water itself

In the series, A Flowering, I use the flowers to create patterns and textures, sometimes deconstructing into single petals, drying the flowers in the microwave, repainting them to preserve color, attaching and encasing them with acrylic medium.

In the Square Foot series I layer transparent colors to create a shimmering depth. The flowers themselves form a raised surface pattern and are sealed in a high gloss finish on a cradled wood panel
WATERFALL PAINTINGS
The waterfall paintings are from my residency at Hambidge Center, an artists' retreat in Rabun Gap Georgia. Each day I went out to visit one of the many waterfalls in the area to sketch and photograph, returning to my cabin in the evening to finish the paintings.
